Sonora is home to different sporting events ranging from baseball to the most popular in the world, soccer.
We have three baseball teams in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP): Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Yaquis de Obregón and Mayos de Navojoa. A professional soccer team in the Liga de Ascenso MX: Cimarrones de Sonora. And three professional basketball teams in the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit (Cibacopa), the most important league of basketball in Northwest Mexico: Guaymas Ostioneros, Obregon Halcones, and Hermosillo Rayos.
The team in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP) with the most titles, 16 in total; also, it's been a two-time champion of the Caribbean SeriesSonora Stadium, a first-rate sports space.
Also part of the LMP and, like Naranjeros, are an attraction in their city. They have 7 league championships (3 in a row) and 2 in the Caribbean Series. Its home is the Yaquis Stadium.
As you can see, baseball in Sonora is literally the king of sports. Mayos also compete in the LMP. They have won 2 championships on the circuit and play at Manuel “Ciclon” Echeverria Stadium.
A professional soccer team belonging to the Liga de Ascenso MX (formerly Primera A). Based in Hermosillo, and they play at Heroe de Nacozari Stadium. They have participated in the MX Cup and played the final.
Professional basketball team of the Pacific Coast Basketball Circuit (CIBACOPA), the most important league in Northwest Mexico, based in Hermosillo and playing at Sonora Arena. They have 2 championships in a row.
Professional basketball team based in Guaymas, Sonora participating in CIBACOPA. The team was founded in 2008 by the Guaymas Sports Board to give continuity to professional basketball in Guaymas. They play at Guaymas Municipal Gymnasium.
CIBACOPA professional basketball team based in Obregon, Sonora. Born in the need for a greater boost for basketball in the city and to be able to take it to a professional level with the development of local basketball players. They play at Manuel Lira García Municipal Gymnasium.
