Sonora, the beautiful state in northwestern Mexico, proudly showcased its hidden gems at the second edition of the International Magic Towns Fair 2023. The event took place in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, from September 22 to 24. On this occasion, Sonora highlighted four of its charming magic towns: Álamos, Magdalena de Kino, San Carlos, and Ures.
The Government of the State of Sonora, through its Ministry of Tourism, actively participated in this event with the aim of attracting more Californian visitors to the region. The initiative seeks to take Sonora's cultural richness, authentic flavors, and history to an international level.
Federal Tourism Secretary Miguel Torruco Marqués emphasized the importance of promoting Mexican tourism abroad. He highlighted that Los Angeles, California, is home to 4.2 million Mexicans and is a significant tourism hub in the United States. The goal is for the economic benefits of tourism to reach every corner of Mexico, allowing local communities to share their culture globally.
Roberto Gradillas Pineda, Secretary of Tourism for Sonora, expressed his enthusiasm for presenting the wonders of Sonora's magic towns to the Californian community. He mentioned that Sonora participated in the event with four of its most precious jewels. Visitors had the opportunity to fall in love with the rich history, delicious cuisine, and, above all, the hospitality of the people of Sonora, who are always ready to welcome everyone with open arms.
This second edition of the International Magic Towns Fair brought together 177 participants, and the attendance of thousands of Latino visitors living in Los Angeles and its surroundings was expected.
